Weekly Groceries - Just the Basics!

I did it again... I only stopped at my
local small time grocery store this week!

Luckily for me 9 of the 11 items I bought were on sale.
Which made them only slightly more expensive
than I'm used to paying!

For some reason my cheese slices didn't make the picture,
but anyway the 12 items I bought cost me $19.12

I also bought a couple more gallons of milk earlier.
My total this week was around $25.

Next week I'm looking to make a normal
bigger shopping trip.... We'll see if that happens!!!

I'm not sure, but I think that makes my
monthly total around $240. or so.

We're off this morning to buy
more cute little chicks!!

Weekly Groceries - Bulk food stop!

I finally made a trip to my local bulk food store!
Here's what I got for $40.27

25# whole wheat flour
big bag of cocoa
sea salt
wheat germ
wheat bran
powered sugar
bran flakes
lil smokies x6
bag of yeast
chocolate chips
flax seed (now I need a grinder!)
small pearl tapioca

Then I also went to Kroger and spent $13.75
and Meijer $19.40 for milk, produce, and misc items

All totaled this week I spent $73.42

That means for the month I'm at $220.
That's a little more than I've been spending, but it happens! And
it's actually closer to what I strive to keep my budget!!

Weekly Groceries

I did some regular grocery shopping this week in preparation
for next week. I will be very busy with the garage sale
all week and doubt I'll make it to the store.

I was going by a Kroger on Wednesday so I stopped in
and spent $8.26 on this....

Then on Thursday I stopped at
Meijer and Aldi and got this (minus the cute kid!)...

I spent $11.17 at Meijer for 22 items (including the milk)
and then $20.45 at Aldi for
rice 10#, oranges, bananas, beans, raisins, icecream and chips.
Weekly total was $39.88

Last week after I had posted my pictures, I went to
CVS and spent about $10. for Toilet Paper and Milk!!
They had the Scott 1000 brand on sale.
12 pack for $6.49 -$1. MQ= $5.49
Anyone else use this TP? I find it lasts FOREVER!!!!

So my total for the month comes to $120.61
I'm thinking I'll do very little to NO shopping next week.

I still have hope to make it to my bulk
food store this month! We'll see!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weekly Groceries

Total for this picture is $36.36

$13.12 at Aldi for apples, oranges, olive oil, chips, and carrots.
$23.24 at Meijer for everything else.

I tried the La Tortilla Factory Tortillas that
"My little World" suggested and she's right! They're
delicious. Only 100 calories and 12 grams of fiber per one!
My daughter and I split one, so we each get 6
grams of fiber and they last twice as long!
I thought they were a bit pricey at $3.69 per 8 pack.

I also hit Kroger and spent $34.37
No picture for that one but it did include
4 gallons of milk, 4 cereal, 4 granola bars, yogurt, butter, choc. chips,
icecream, salad dressing, Reddi whip, and several other items.

***
Here's my totals for March and April
if you're interested!!!
For April I'm already at $70.73 (opps!)

I ended up at $171.57 for the month of March!

I'm hoping to get to my bulk food store to stock up
on baking supplies in the next week or two!

BTW-- I'm planting potatoes, peas,
and lettuce today (some yesterday)!!

Weekly Groceries

I was going to stay out of the store this week but...
I just didn't want to, Plain and Simple!!!

I didn't want to be out of bananas, salad, and yellow delicious
apples (even tho we have 4-5 pounds of other kinds!)
Yellow Delicious are my FAVORITE!!

I spent just over $20. at Kroger and
Then $5. at CVS. --( 4 gallon of milk isn't shown in pic.)!
****
I've been trying to increase my fiber intake and
that involves trying to eat 1 apple, 1 banana, and at least
1-2 servings of green beans, peas, carrots, or salad per day!!

Did you know that Snap peas, the kind you eat the pod,
are packed with fiber?? I didn't, but I also have never tried
them. I bought a pack of frozen to see what I think. If they're
decent, I'm planting a huge row of them and freezing them!
Anyone like snap peas???
****

By the way -- We rented a tractor/tiller and are out tilling up a
huge 70x40 plot for our new garden this morning!!!! That's going
to be a lot of weeding, but boy will it taste good.
Well, that's assuming it produces!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Weekly Groceries

Since Meijer was having a 10/$10. Sale this week,
I went ahead and did another big shopping week.
If all goes as planned this will be the last
shopping trip of March. I will definitely buy milk
and maybe a little produce. Other than that I'm done!!

At Meijer I spent $38.59 A little higher than I'd like
but I had Sure Jell coupons that were going to expire end
of March, so I went ahead and bought 6 of them. They were $2.xx each.
If I bought 2 I got $2.00 off sugar. So I stocked up for Strawberry
season. I just can't get enough of Homemade Strawberry Freezer Jam!!

Then at Aldi I spent $13.12. I also spent
$10.xx for 8 packages of bacon (not shown) at a local store.
That made my weekly total $62.71

Which makes my monthly total $144.28

Weekly Groceries - Easter Candy!!

Let me just say that what you're about to see
in these 2 pictures is
NOT WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK!!!

I just got some really good deals on
Easter Candy this week!!

Here's what I found!

At some store somewhere in the last month I found .50 cents/2
Cadbury egg coupons. I grabbed about 12 off the huge tear pad!

These came in handy this week because they were on sale 2/$1. plus
when you buy $10. worth you get $3. ECB!!
So I got 20 for $2.00
I also got the toothbrushes which gave me overage.
All totaled I spent $1.40 at CVS (I also used up 2 ECB)

Then at Rite Aid, Covergirl was on sale b1g1. Pair that
with the b1g1 MQ coupon to get them both free!

I had 3 coupons which meant 6 things of makeup FREE.
Better yet since that totaled around $48. I was able to use
a $3./$15. and got all the candy and makeup for $3.34 including tax!

****
I don't have a picture, but I also stopped in at Kroger
and spent $23.24 for a few essentials like milk, eggs, potatoes,
icecream, and several other items. (Yes icecream is essential!!)

That makes my total this week around $27.98
and the monthly total $81.57

Friday, March 5, 2010

Weekly Groceries

We're back... Here's my finds!

At Aldi I spent $17.30 on produce and a few can items.
Then at Meijer I spent $15.01 and $9.78
I also spent $6.03 at Walgreens.

I was able to use my Walgreens RR at Meijer with
NO PROBLEMS!!
It scanned just like a manufacturer coupon and
since it IS a manufacturer coupon that makes sense!!!

I also spent $5.47 at CVS on 3 gallon of milk earlier in the week

That makes my total
this week $53.59

I feel well stocked, so we'll see
how the rest of the month goes!

Weekly Groceries + HONEY!!

Another unimpressive week, I know!!!!

I even did something this week that I haven't done in
close to 2 years... I went to our little local grocery store.
Yikes I about jumped out of my pants at the prices!!!

But it was convenient to only get a few essentials.
Saved time and GAS!!

I spent $22.65
All 4 kids were with me and I caved into buying
donuts and apple juice. Now I know why
they never come with me!!! I used to buy these
donuts all the time and they remembered them so I
thought it would be a nice treat!!
****
*********
Then I stopped in and bought 1 gallon of locally grown
honey from my SIL's uncle!!
$18.00
I'm attempting to switch all our sugar usage to honey.
I'm so curious how long 1 gallon will last...
More on our honey adventures later!!

btw--The honey is not really as dark as it looks in the picture.

February's almost over so here are our totals...
$145.74
Higher than I hoped but with the honey, I'm happy
with that total. It's still low and I saved almost $100. off
my normal monthly budget!

Yearly totals
January -- $121.22
February -- $145.74
--------
Total $266.96 for 2 months

I'm making a little head way on my freezer, but I still
have a ways to go. So I'm continuing into March.

Weekly Groceries - An extra trip to Bulk food store!

Week 3

Meijer (pictured above) -- $21.84 for 30 items

That wouldn't have been too bad, but I was in the town
that my closest bulk food store is in (dropping off taxes). So
I stopped and got a few things I've been wanting.

Total there $17.84 (no picture)
I got a big bag of whole wheat flour, cake flour (for angel food cake),
lemon juice, almond extract (4.99 ouch), 10# potatoes, and several
other items. I knew this would be extra and I'd go over my goal but
I also know my goal is very low so I feel good about it!

Week 3 totals
Meijer $21.84
CVS $3.57
Bulk Store $17.84
------
$43.25

Total for February so far $105.09

Yearly so far $226.31

Weekly Groceries -- $61.84 for month

I only visited CVS this week. I didn't bother making
my normal 25 minute drive this week to grocery shop.
The sales weren't that good and we got a foot of snow.

It was an easy decision!!!!

So this week I spent $9.95 at CVS.

Totals for the month ....
Week 1-- $51.89
Week 2 -- $9.95
-------------
Total $61.84
(I'm feeling much better about
reaching my goal after week 2!!)

Yearly total -- $183.06

Friday, February 5, 2010

Weekly Groceries- at half my goal already * uh-oh*

Stock up week!!

I might be in big trouble!?!?!?!?

This month I'm trying again to keep my
groceries for the month to around $100.
(January was $121.22 for the month)

Well this week, on day 2 of the Month, I spent...
$50.74 *Opps!!

$36.22 at Meijer for 46 items
and $14.42 at Aldi on 10 items

Ummm yea that's half!

But in my defense...
Meijer had a great sale on cheese (I got 10)
and I stocked up on produce and fruit again!

I think I'm actually set for about 2 weeks
(except for milk) so that should mean
that I could possibly still make my goal...
Only time will tell us!

I think making my goal will depend on how good the
sales are in the next few weeks. If they're not so
hot it will be easy. (just stay home!)
But if they're hot; then, well I might just go over a touch.

Monthly total so far
$36.22 Meijer
$14.52 Aldi
1.15 CVS
-----------
Total - $51.89

Stay tuned for week 2

Weekly Groceries- Pantry Challenge

January Pantry Challenge is over...
But stay tuned for February!!!

This week I spent
Meijer -- $13.99
Aldi -- $22.91
-------
Total $36.90

A little higher that I was hoping but I forgot
I have a birthday girl and needed ice cream
for both sides of the family! So right there you have $10.
1 bucket probably would have been enough but
we'll just have some to get us through February this way!

I did get lots of fruit and I'm hoping to be able
to get fruit like this every week!
We've decided to start snacking on fruit instead
of junk, like we sometimes do!
***

So if you'd like, here are my totals for January...
Week 1 -- $25.12
Week 2 -- $14.80
Week 3-- $44.40
Week 4 -- $36.90
-----------
$121.22
If you remember my
goal was $100.

I blame my going over to the Pepsi deal
at CVS!! I bought 12 -12 packs for $20.
Right there is my overage...
But such a great price!!!
(I know it's junk, but still!)

Anyway I'm making my goal in
February $100. again!!
It would be awesome to be able to do this
and get lots of fruit in the process!!

My "Computer Fund" has about $160.
after only 1 month! happy dance!
(this is the excess of our grocery/gas budget!)

Weekly Groceries- Pantry Challenge

This week I visited CVS 2 times
and went to Walgreens and Meijer.

Total for items in Picture was $24.83

Then I spent $9.62 at CVS and another $9.95 at CVS
Both trips were mainly Mt. Dew
This is a major stock up of 12- 12 packs for under $20.

***
This brings my 3 week total up to
$84.32

I was hoping for a little less but what
can you expect when you buy 12 packs of pop!?!?!

BTW-- I'm thinking of extending my
pantry challenge another month! The deals
have been so good that I've not seen my stock go
down that much.

Plus I have new motive... my computer
has shown the dreaded "blue screen" 2 times in the last
few weeks.. yikes!! It's working fine now but I fear it's
on its last leg (4 years old). So if I can save money, it might go
towards that or if it can wait a few more months, my grocery
budget might be able to buy me a new computer!!
How cool would that be!!!!!

Oh yea, My freezer is loving it too... There
is so much stuff in there that has sat on the bottom for
way too long. I'd love my freezer to be at least
1/2 empty when garden season comes back around!!

Have a great weekend!!

Weekly Groceries- Pantry Challenge

I did pretty good this week at Walgreen's
This trip cost me .81 cents!!
I love cashier's who are excited that

Best part is they gave me back
$13. in RR
My cashier was really excited when these
bad boys started popping out!!

I got 2 meters which were free with the Bayer coupons.
then I got $5. RR for each one and another $3. RR
for buying both at the same time.
The Revlon make up was free and I used
a $2. RR for the tomato sauce and milk
(.99 cents for the milk, it was close to expiring)

All this made my total .81 cents and I got $13. back
in Register Rewards to use next week!
I'm hoping for a really good week.
I'll let you know how much I get for the $13. next week!

Then it was on to a quick stop at Meijer...

Since I'm trying to stick to my eating from
the pantry challenge ($100. for the month) I mostly got
produce and dairy items at Meijer. (Bananas not shown)

It totaled $19.73 for 19 items

I'll keep a running total for the month of

Weekly Groceries- (kind of)

I haven't posted grocery pictures for a while. Basically
because I haven't done any "real" grocery
shopping for 4-5 weeks!
This week is actually no different but I thought I'd
share it with you anyway!!
(plus I had time to take the picture!)

I was in a town with a Kroger so I stopped in
to use some coupons that were getting close to expiring!

22 items making it $1.18/ item
(2 butter tubs and 2 Nesquik milkshakes not shown)

I used it for my 2nd trans. and ended up with $2. RR for next time.
Got 2 cereal, 1 milk, 1 honey, and 2 tweezers

Then at CVS I spent $3.24 for 2 conditioners, 2 dawn, 2 packs Ivory soap, and vanilla-- They were also out of the Bayer Monitors.. Oh well Still a great trip!
