Weekly Groceries

Believe it or not I went over my $55. budget with just what you see
in this picture.... It cost me around $62.xx
I still don't see how that's possible...

Oh yea, missing from the picture is 1 five pound box of pretzel sticks. They were broken pieces and only $3.xx My kids will snack on these for awhile!

I didn't think Meijer had anything worth driving to and since I just went to Aldi last week, I decided to try my local bulk food store and a discount store in the same town. I didn't feel like I got much...

But in their defense I did stock up on things like cinnamon, beef base, chicken base, sprinkles for Holiday cookies, and oil. These things usually don't have coupons out for them. So I will definitely go there again, I just might use this store for very few stock up items!! At the first store, I seriously thought that my cart had about $30. worth in it... When she rang up $50.xx I about choked.

Anyway maybe part of it was not shopping with a very extensive grocery list. But I can't make a list if I don't have a sales flyer.

After I did my shopping I found out that Kroger is having their
Mega Sale.... Guess I'll count that toward next week's
Grocery Budget...

the incentive I needed to quick dress the kids
and go take this picture...

Would you believe I took only 2 pictures and Shad (my 3 yr. old)
decided he was scared of the tree.

I couldn't believe one of the two turned out this good.

I always melt it (at least partially) in the microwave.
In talking to my SIL's this weekend they said
they never do and never had...

Our Cousin (on Hubby's side) lost her husband
it a water accident this week. She's only around 30 yrs. old
and just had a baby not even 2 weeks ago.
Lots of prayer for her and the family is needed

Crockpot Recipe

Hamburgers with brown gravy, potatoes, and carrots

This is kind of a cheap way to replace an expensive Roast meal!
I've been wanting to try this forever and finally did on Sunday...
It turned out awesome and was a real hit!
Especially with hubby (who's not a huge fan of crockpot cooking!)

So Here's the recipe we'll be eating a lot this Winter...
Best of all, I figure it's under $5.00 Total!

1 lb. of hamburger
2 packages of brown gravy (or make your own, 2-3 cups worth)
1 package of baby carrots
Potatoes -cleaned and cut into 4ths (I leave the peel on)
Seasoning for the hamburger

First I made 1 packet of brown gravy and put it in the bottom of the crockpot.
I took the hamburger and added seasoning (I used Lawrys). Patty it like for hamburgers.
Put the patty's in the crockpot. Next add the potatoes (I used around 7 med cut up potatoes) and 1 package of baby carrots. Then make the other packet of gravy and dump it over the top!

That's it....
I put it on high for about 4-5 hours
You can change the amounts to suit your family.

I'll be trying more crock pot recipes in the weeks to come....
I'll let you know how they turn out, with recipes included of course!
