How to do Fondue...

A couple week's ago I mentioned that we
were having Fondue for a Birthday dinner.
A few inquired how to do it sooo here's how we do it....

My mom got each of us kids a pot many years ago and we
keep them altogether with hers so we are lucky to have 4 pots when we do fondue.

First decide what you want to have...
Our favorites are
Chicken, Steak, potatoes, mushrooms, onions,
broccoli, cauliflower, bread, and hotdogs

You will need to cut everything up into bite size pieces before the dinner.
We also make a pancake batter for breading and a cheese sauce for dipping.

Fill the pots 2/3 full with vegetable oil or what kind you like.
Turn them on to around 350 degrees. It will take a little bit for them to warm up.

Then have several bowls for each person so that they can keep raw meat separate from the other food. Simply take the food and have fun cooking it.

Your fondue pots should come with little fork like things to put the food on and then into the pots. (like you see in the first pic)

Our Cheese sauce is just melted Velveeta cheese with a little milk to make it the right consistancy
I love to dip raw veggies and unfried bread in the cheese.

If your stomach can handle the grease frying the bread first and then dipping it in the cheese sauce can't be beat... My stomach can't handle it so I refrain!!!

As I mentioned before we also make a pancake batter to bread some of the food. I always dip hot dogs, onion rings, and mushrooms into this batter and then fry them! Delicious corn dogs, onion rings, and breaded mushrooms!!
My SIL was a master at making Onion Rings!!!!

That's really all there is to it.
You won't eat very much and you'll probably have a lot of food left over. There's something about waiting on each bite to cook before you eat it!!!

Anyone else ever had fondue???
Feel free to ask questions if it seems I missed a step!!!

Thanks Gen for taking the pics again!!!!
One of these years I'll start remembering my camera!!!
