Homemade Pancake Syrup

Here's another item crossed off my list.
Another item that I won't buy from the store
EVER AGAIN!!!

Seriously do you know how EASY it is
to make your own pancake syrup???

Here's the simple recipe I used and best of all
it only takes 4 ingredients plus water...

Homemade Maple Syrup
(makes about 1 pint)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup hot water
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
1 tsp corn starch

In saucepan boil 1 cup water.
Add both sugars and cornstarch.
Return to a boil stirring often with a whisk.
Remove from heat and add maple flavoring.

That's it!!! I put it in a quart jar and dip it
with a ladle. Works Perfect!!

My daughter of course thought she wouldn't like it because
it was "homemade" So I gave her a taste test....
SHE COULDN'T TELL which was which and loved it!!!
Hubby said it was very good and basically
tastes exactly like the store bought.

I'm so excited that we can say goodbye to
another store product that has high fructose corn syrup
and 10 other ingredients that I can't even pronounce!
I love HOMEMADE!!

Ohhh Yippy! Thanks so much for this recipe. I LOVE real maple syrup..but it's so pricey. Great to know it has the kids stamp of approval!

I am going to try this version! I have made my own however, my recipe doesn't call for brown sugar nor does it call for corn starch. I don't care too much for the store bought kind. I have to get the lite or I can't stand to eat it because it is way to overly sweet. Homemade always taste way better and you know what is in it!

Danielle, I love maple syrup too! My family used to tap trees and make it. I might try it next year!!! You could add 1 tsp instead of the 1/2 to make it a stronger maple flavor.

Susan- if you like it a little less sweet you might try this recipe...

1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 tsp maple flavoring
maybe a little corn starch (1/2 tsp)

It is half as much sugar and only a little less water! I haven't tried it but it would have to be a little less sweet! Let us know if you try it!!

There are so many recipes if you search online!!

I've noticed that too, Sarah... More room for canning this summer/fall!!!
YAYAYAYAY!!!

I'm planning on cleaning my pantries out today and taking a load to the food and clothes.

Such a different mind set to say how can I make this instead of buying it with tons of weird ingredients!!!
