Weekly Groceries

I just did my shopping this morning! Usually I go earlier
in the week but this week is unusually BUSY!!!
**
As you can see it's my annual week to buy
convenience foods! Since we're leaving for 2 weeks on a
working trip, food is all about EASY!!!!
My kids look forward each year to the only time I buy things like
CORN DOGS, Uncrustables, and Hot Pockets!!!

Yea it's true, they all cheered when I got home!!!
Sometimes it's so easy to make them excited!

Anyway even with all the convenience foods and even a pack
of socks (and a lot less planning) my total was still only
$45.xx at Meijer!
YAY!!!!
((I also spent $6. at CVS on Milk))

I also won't be grocery shopping for the next 2 weeks
so I'm looking forward to using those week's money
to stock up on some things for winter
I'll let you know what I get when I return!!!

Have a great weekend!

How to do Fondue...

A couple week's ago I mentioned that we
were having Fondue for a Birthday dinner.
A few inquired how to do it sooo here's how we do it....

My mom got each of us kids a pot many years ago and we
keep them altogether with hers so we are lucky to have 4 pots when we do fondue.

First decide what you want to have...
Our favorites are
Chicken, Steak, potatoes, mushrooms, onions,
broccoli, cauliflower, bread, and hotdogs

You will need to cut everything up into bite size pieces before the dinner.
We also make a pancake batter for breading and a cheese sauce for dipping.

Fill the pots 2/3 full with vegetable oil or what kind you like.
Turn them on to around 350 degrees. It will take a little bit for them to warm up.

Then have several bowls for each person so that they can keep raw meat separate from the other food. Simply take the food and have fun cooking it.

Your fondue pots should come with little fork like things to put the food on and then into the pots. (like you see in the first pic)

Our Cheese sauce is just melted Velveeta cheese with a little milk to make it the right consistancy
I love to dip raw veggies and unfried bread in the cheese.

If your stomach can handle the grease frying the bread first and then dipping it in the cheese sauce can't be beat... My stomach can't handle it so I refrain!!!

As I mentioned before we also make a pancake batter to bread some of the food. I always dip hot dogs, onion rings, and mushrooms into this batter and then fry them! Delicious corn dogs, onion rings, and breaded mushrooms!!
My SIL was a master at making Onion Rings!!!!

That's really all there is to it.
You won't eat very much and you'll probably have a lot of food left over. There's something about waiting on each bite to cook before you eat it!!!

Anyone else ever had fondue???
Feel free to ask questions if it seems I missed a step!!!

Thanks Gen for taking the pics again!!!!
One of these years I'll start remembering my camera!!!

Another trip to ER

This picture is after the stitches...

My baby fell on our metal Stairs this afternoon and
it required 5 stitches at the ER....

I looked it up and it was around 11 months ago that
he visited the ER for stitches in his lip.
Oct. 25, 2008

Did I mention that none of my other 3 kids
have ever had stitches from an injury before....
HMMM... Is it just 4th child or is this kid just that good?!?!?!?!?

Bloggy Tip... Creating links that open new windows

Have you ever wondered how to make a blog link open
in a new window???

This is important so that readers don't leave your page.
I always dislike clicking on a link and losing the blog I was actually at.

Wordpress has an option to do this built in but
blogger does not...
***
It's really very simple but does take a second to do...
Here's how in Blogger...

Make your blog post and link normally.
When you're done click onto the edit html tab.
Find the link and insert
target="_blank"
somewhere in the link. Usually you should insert it between
"> within the A tag or link.

If you're still unsure...
Brent Riggs has a excellent video demo on how to do this
here
This is where I learned!!!

It might not sound so easy but watch his video,
it really is easy and I think it's worth it to
take the time to learn!!!!

Happy Blogging!!
Let me know if this helped you or confused you!!!
