Total this week was $57.34 Just a touch over my $55. budget... I Won't complain, it seems I got more meat and I got an extra gallon of milk. I also got a big tub of icecream for a birthday party. Overall I consider it another great week!

I spent $26.78 at Meijer for 23 items
and.......$30.56 at Kroger for 33 items (66% savings)

total was $57.34 for 56 items...that's around $1./item. I don't think there were more than 10 items that were originally under $1. So although it's not nearly as good as the last couple weeks, I'll TAKE IT!!!

Wacky Mac for you Wacky non believers!

Okay so some of you have been questioning my wacky mac purchases and even saying that maybe it's too wacky for you....Well doesn't this look delicious???

I mean seriously can you ever pass up an entire bag of anything for .16 cents. Okay, so since I really didn't know if the stuff was decent at all, I did try it for myself tonight. It was REALLY GOOD!!

I did a rather simple thing (before I looked up this site) and simply added Italian dressing to it after I cooked and cooled it. Just like you would any pasta salad! The noodles definately had a taste to them, they weren't just plain pasta. The Italian was just the thing to put on them. I'm looking forward to trying some other recipes with all my wacky mac. (and yes...I'm getting more tomorrow... And probably more next week!)

So there you have it, permission to go spend .16 cents and get yourself a bag at Kroger and try it for yourself...I don't think you'll be disappointed!!! Even if your Kroger only doubles you can still get a bag for only .66 cents

I will let you know Thurs. or Fri. what I find...Edit--They did not have it packaged by the pound. I did get 2 pgks. that were 1.77 lbs each for $3.31- $1.MQ= $2.31 or $1.30/lb. not bad!!

More Mega Sale at Krogers

We went to town to do a little shopping on Saturday. So since we were going right by a Kroger store I couldn't resist doing another transaction. Our Kroger stores only allow you to triple 2 like coupons and you're only allowed to do 1 transaction in a 24 hr period using coupons. Which means I'm limited on my usual shopping day...Anyway.....

This was a very sweet little deal. I got all this for $4.58

My receipt says I saved $30.16 (87%)

It works out that I paid about .33 cents per item

Weekly Meals

Monday--Wet burrito Casserole (recipe below)

Tuesday--Herb baked tilapia, fried potatoes, and veggies

Wednesday--Ham steaks on bun with salad

Thursday--Chicken noodles with mashed potatoes (daughters birthday meal, her birthday is on Sat. She turns 8 yrs old)

Friday-- Birthday party!--Pizza Hut!!

Saturday--leftovers

Sunday--Pork Roast with potatoes and veggies

My new rule last week was to include at least 1 new recipe. This week I'm actually trying 2 new meals--Mon, and Tues. Hopefully this is not a mistake!!

Here is the recipe for the Wet Burrito Casserole (Monday).

1 cup sour cream

1 pkg taco seasoning

1 can mushroom soup

1 can mushrooms, diced

1 lb. hamburger

1 -16oz can refried beans

1 med onion--opt.

1 pkg soft taco shells

1 med pepper-opt.

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

---------------------

Mix sour cream and mushroom soup. Put half of mixture in bottom of 9x13 pan.

Fry hamburger, onion, and green pepper. Add mushrooms, taco seasoning, and beans to hamburger. Divide mixture onto tortilla shells. Roll up shells and place on top of sour cream mixture in pan. top with remaining soup mixture.

Bake 25 minutes at 350. Remove from oven and sprinkle the cheese on top. Return to oven and bake another 5-10 min. or until cheese is melted.
