Weekly Groceries

Not a bad week overall! I took advantage of the Mega Sale at Kroger one more time!! I think we have enough granola bars to last a looooong time!! I also hope they keep having the cottonelle toilet paper coupons, but even if they stopped, I think my 22 4-packs would last us quite some time!! (yes the toilet paper stock is getting a little out of control!!)

Here's the run down...
I spent $28.15 at Kroger for 35 items and saved 69%
I also went to Aldis this week and spent $17.73 for 18 items
Earlier in the week I went to another Kroger and spent $8.xx for 7 items (not pictured)
-----------------
All together I spent about $53.88 for 60 items. That's just under .90 cents per item!
I didn't go to Meijer or Walgreens this week.
At CVS I only spent cents. I hope they start having some MM. My extra bucks are getting a little low! I need cheap milk!!
------------------------
And Yes I got MORE wacky mac...did you notice that the coupons have been reset??
print more here and I think here
How was your week??

Baking Day Tomorrow!!

I've decided to have a baking day tomorrow-Edit - make that Friday!
Here's a run down of what I'll hopefully be making. I have loved the last few months where I always have muffins in the freezer to pull out for snacks and breakfast.
I'm down to 2 muffins to it's time again!!

Banana Crumb Muffins...for some reason no one will eat the last 3 bananas! So I guess I will try some banana muffins. These are mainly for me because my husband won't touch anything banana with a 10 ft. pole!
Here is the recipe that I will be trying. I love the extra crumb topping!
I keep eyeing the frozen zucchini in my freezer. So I'm making zucchini bread. I absolutely LOVE this bread. Again this is mainly for me!!! Guess I be having some wonderful breakfasts for the next few weeks! Here is a recipe that is almost identical to mine.
-------------------------
I will also be making chocolate chip muffins. These are hubbys favorite! Here is my post from a few months ago with the recipe I use! They also have the sugar topping. YUM!
------------------------------
And last but certainly not least I'll be making regular ol chocolate chip cookies! I just use the regular toll house recipe. Here it is in case you don't have it! I do increase the flour a little.
It makes the cookies not be so flat.
chocolate chip cookies
-----------------------
2 1/4 cup flour---I increase this to 2 3/4 cup
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups chocolate chips (I use whole bag)
-------------
I mix all dry ingred. together and then add them to the wet ingred.
bake at 375 degrees for 9-11 min.
-------------
If you're short on time this makes a GREAT bar cookie. Just mix ingred. like you would for cookies only using 2 1/4 flour and put in greased 15x10 baking pan. bake at 375 for 20 min.
-------------
I'll update you on my day tomorrow!

Twice Baked Potatoes

If you're like me you often have leftover baked potatoes after an evening meal. Sometimes the leftovers get eaten and other times they go to waste (althought I try hard not to).

Tonight I was going to make baked potatoes but noticed I had 5 leftover baked potatoes in the fridge from Sunday. Well I knew I didn't want to make more, so instead I took the potatoes and made twice baked potatoes! It worked really well.

Here's the recipe in case you don't regularly make these. They are a real hit here at our house!

-----------------

Bake potatoes normally (if you haven't already done this) and cut in half. (cool if they're just out of the oven). Scoop out centers.(warm the centers if they're cold from the fridge). Mash the potatoes regularly making them just a touch on the thick side.

Add 3/4 cup ranch dressing and 1/4 cup sour cream to potatoes. beat again.

Put shells on baking sheet and fill with the potatoe mixture. (this should be enough for 10-14 halves depending on size). top with velveeta slices or cheddar cheese shreds.

Bake for 20 min. at 350 degrees.

-----------------

So just an idea, the next time you make baked potatoes, make a few extra and make twice baked later in the week with the leftovers!!! We love them!

Here's another recipe if you don't like ranch and sour cream in your potatoes! (yes I used their picture...mine turned out horrible!)

John chapter 20

Verse 29-31

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Free Redbox Movie Rentals

I've heard so much about this...So earlier today I went to Walmart and rented 2 movies. I got the free promo code here. She seems to have a code every Monday. Thanks Sarah!
---------------
Anyway we just got done watching our first movie..."Horton hears a Who" ... cute movie! especially for FREE!
------------------------------
Here's the details of Redbox. It was extremely easy to do. You can go here to see if your area has a Redbox. Ours in a Walmart and there are some in McDonalds. It looks like a movie vending machine. Very odd!
-------------------------
You can also see the list of movies available before you go here. Just type in your zip code. Then click on "view titles here" by the location you will be visiting! This way you will know what you want to rent before going and won't have to stand there searching.
------------------------
There is a computer screen that you rent from. Simply push "rent with promo" on the first screen. You will then enter your promo code. Next you pick your movie and add to cart. Then you simply check out. You will still need to use a credit card. You will not be charged unless you don't return it on time the next day. (I think it's 9pm) Then you will be charged $1. per day.
(To rent 2 movies free you will need to do them separately and use 2 different credit cards)
---------------------
Well as soon as the kiddos go to bed we will be watching Eagle Eye...hubbys choice!
Enjoy your evening!

John chapter 19
Verse 16b-17
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of Golgotha. Here they crucified him, and with him two others-- one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
Verse 28-30
Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." A jar of wine vingar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. When he had received the drink Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Meijer 2-1

Meijer is having a 10/$10 get 11th free sale. Unfortunately for us couponers it's almost all Meijer brand items. This means there a very few coupon matchups this week.
----------------------
Go here to see the few matchups that there are.
----------------------------
Be sure to check out the Meijer ad here. Depending on what you need this week you might be able to find some good deals.
-------------------------
I'm thinking that this week is going to be a good week to stock up on sugar, flour, and baking items that don't go on sale very often. I will probably get some of it at Aldis this week.
