Even if you've never made homemade bread before
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
No special equipment required...
This is the first bread I've ever made
without a bread machine!
(besides zucchini)(I used to own one about 8 years ago!)
I've made 2 batches now and I'm pretty sure
I'll not be buying bread at the store anymore!!!
Anyway...
5 ingredients! That's it!
Thanks to Sarah at
8 Muddy Boots for passing it along
and
Chickens in the Road for the recipe.
Homemade Grandmother Bread((for 2 loaves))
3 cups warm water
1 T. yeast (1 pkt)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup Sugar
7-8 cups flour
In large bowl combine water, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Stir and let sit 5 min.
Stir in 3 cups flour, then stir in 2 more. Stir in 1 more and you'll
probably have to start kneading it in. Add 1-2 more.
I only added a little over 7 cups. Don't add too much.
Mine is still the slightest bit sticky in some areas when I'm done.
Spray another bowl with cooking spray and put the dough in it.
Cover with a towel or I like to use saran wrap sprayed w/ spray.
Place in a warm spot and let rise for about an hour. (until doubled)
Take out and punch down on a floured surface,
adding a little more flour (I only added around 1/4 cup)
Knead for a minute or so and divide in half.
Put in 2 sprayed loaf pans and cover again.
Let rise again for about an hour. (until doubled) or
about an inch above the pans.
Bake in oven at 350 degrees for around 25 minutes
I only baked it for 20 minutes. My oven is hot and we
like it the slightest bit doughy!
Now it sounds like a lot of steps, but seriously
it is only about 15-20 minutes of work and the rest
is waiting for it to raise and bake!
You should see the kids flock over for a warm piece
when I pull them out of the oven.
And the cost!!! WAHOO!!
I figured it up and I'm only paying about
.25-.35 cents per loaf.
It's better ingredients, better tasting,
more filling, and no preservatives!
Anyone else have a super easy bread recipe??
Next week CINNAMON ROLLS!!!If I can do it, you can too!
