Weekly Groceries- $55. Budget!

I didn't feel that this week was overly impressive! But I did manage to get everything in my $55. budget and for around $1. per item average. I guess I can't complain!!

At Meijer I spent $26.96 saved $25.93 --got 22 items

At Kroger I spent $28.00 saved $26.20 (48%)--got 31 items

Total spent $54.96--Couldn't get much closer than that!

Spring Cleaning week 1 End Result...

Well we made it through the week! I can't say that we got nearly everything done on the list, but we did accomplish a few things.

First we tackled bagging up tons of toys that don't get played with. My 8 yr. old daughter decided she didn't need some of here little girl toys anymore. (sniff sniff, okay those that know me, know I don't get teary eyed, but still it was a little sad cuz she's growing up too fast) Anyway We had several bags full and this is after taking a couple bags out 3 weeks ago!

It seems these toys just end up thrown everywhere--

so my solution GET RID OF THE CLUTTER!!!

We also had 2 big bags of TRASH... where does it all come from????

I'll let you know if I ever figure that one out!

End Result--not bad and it's stayed pretty clean most of the week. At least I can walk up there without tripping over toys everywhere!! And yes 3 boys will sleep in here shortly after my 2 year old graduates to a big bed! We have a loft where we keep their dressers and toys. So it's kind of like having 2 rooms for 3 boys!!

And Halee's room....
Not quite as good IMO, but the girl has STUFF and Lots of STUFF!!
And if I touch the STUFF I'm in big trouble!!! So I left the STUFF ALONE!!!!
If you have a girl, you might know what I'm talkin' about!!

I'm really hoping the loft can stay close to lookin' like this!

I still need to go through the dressers and pull out clothes that don't fit. Maybe that's a good Saturday project or maybe not...We'll see, I might just be lazy tomorrow!!

Practical Tip Tuesday!

It's Tuesday again!! Hope you have your tips ready! I thought you all had great tips last week! Remember ANY tip goes whether practical or not. I wanna hear them all!!

Here's my problem--grocery bags stuffed under the sink that are out of control and take up way too much space.....see...

Answer...Use an empty kleenex box and stuff the bags in the box. I was able to stuff 30 plastic bags into the kleenex box! It worked great...and I was able to pull out just 1 bag at a time.

(I know I should be green and not use plastic bags but at this point in my life I'm not!!!)
I use my plastic bags to tie stinky diapers in. (hopefully not much longer)
I also use them to put food in when I clean out the fridge.
It minimizes leaks if I put them in 3-4 bags and tie!

I Did It!!

I've been a little scared about cutting my 2 yr. olds hair. I wasn't sure I wanted it cut like my big boys yet. Like this (I've done it like this for years)... But I knew it needed cut....BAD!!

He's so cute with the longer hair, but you have to admit something needed to be done.... This pic was 2 weeks ago.

The hair was now in his poor little eyes!
So I took the plunge and tried a #7 (7/8") guard on my clippers for the top and a #5 (5/8") guard for the sides. I've never used a larger guard than a 2 or 3 on my clippers.

But it worked and it didn't turn out a complete disaster!!
See he's still cute! I couldn't believe when seeing these pics side by side how much he DID look different. But at least HE CAN SEE!!!

If only he wasn't deathly afraid of the clippers and scream bloody murder for the full 10 min it took, I might consider it almost fun!!!
Don't worry as you can see in the pic...he's already back to smilin'!!!

Spring Cleaning Week 1

As you can see below we have some work to do. About 3 weeks ago we did a major overhaul of the kids bedrooms. You can't tell in these pics but trust me a month ago it was a whole lot WORSE. Anyway our mission 3 weeks ago was to build bunks which you can see. We gathered up some toys that weren't being used and we generally cleaned up

This week I need to go thru all the kids clothes, put up more unused toys, get rid of more TRASH, sweep, dust, wash bedding, and so on. We'll see how far I get. I hope to post after pics later in the week probably Friday or Saturday!
