Since Meijer was having a 10/$10. Sale this week, I went ahead and did another big shopping week. If all goes as planned this will be the last shopping trip of March. I will definitely buy milk and maybe a little produce. Other than that I'm done!!
At Meijer I spent $38.59 A little higher than I'd like but I had Sure Jell coupons that were going to expire end of March, so I went ahead and bought 6 of them. They were $2.xx each. If I bought 2 I got $2.00 off sugar. So I stocked up for Strawberry season. I just can't get enough of Homemade Strawberry Freezer Jam!!
Then at Aldi I spent $13.12. I also spent $10.xx for 8 packages of bacon (not shown) at a local store. That made my weekly total $62.71
Holy Moly.... Did you see the $10./$20. Kmart coupon??
If not hurry up and go here and print a few. It's in PDF format and looks like you can print as many as you like. It appears these are good through May 22. It also states that you can use one per transaction not per person!!!
Remember there is a chance that Kmart is starting their Super Doubles in April. Even without that this is an AWESOME COUPON!!
To see some great deal ideas to use this coupon go here (toilet paper), here (diapers), and more deals here!
I got the chance to try out some more jerky from jerky.com!! (If you want to read my last review of Pineapple Jerky go here!)
This time they sent me Spencer's Jerky. There were two kinds: Orange Beef Jerky and Mango Beef Jerky. They were really good however they were SPICY!! Maybe I'm just whimpy because everyone else thought they were perfect.
I had several people try them and everyone agreed it was really good jerky. But beware, they are a little spicy, or in my opinion, very spicy!!
Of course they also have regular beef jerky if you don't like the spicy! On the other hand if you love really spicy, you might try their hot!!
If you want to get away from the beef kind, try their section of Turkey Jerky!
I would definitely say that they have a huge variety and pretty good prices too. Be sure to check them out!
I borrowed my mom's pictures from the last couple years and I found that she's got a ton of keepers!!!
Here's two of my favorites. (I have many more favs I'll be sharing!!)
I love the joy captured in this picture!!
Something about this picture just grabs me. It must be the combination of the tall corn behind, the sunlight, and the beautiful flowers in front. Whatever it is... I love it. (Pictured is my oldest son and his cousin.)
Titus 3:4-5 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 14:17 Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
What has God been teaching you lately.
Do you have a prayer request? Do you have a Bible verse that has stuck out to you?
You can just leave your link, words, or prayer request here as a comment. We'd love to know how to pray for you. If you don't want to elaborate just let us know you have an unspoken prayer request. We can still pray for you because God already knows!!
I did it!! I made a pie crust from scratch! I've never done this on my own... But I did it! and it actually turned out "pretty"!!
Once again I say if I can do it... So can you!
Because I used real butter I'd estimate this double crust cost me about $1.20
That's still pretty cheap! I think a double Pillsbury crust is around $2.50- $3.00
Another item crossed off my list that I don't need to buy premade at the store anymore... EVER!!
I won't say it was super easy, but mostly because I felt I didn't know what I was doing and I kept second guessing myself wondering if I was doing it right.
I also don't own a pasty cutter. (Never had a need for one!) Now I might see a need for one!! This time I just used 2 knives to cut in the butter. That took a little bit and then I finished with a fork.
Next time it will go much faster just because, I think, I know what I want my end result to look like!
Anyway if anyone wants a recipe that uses real butter and not Crisco here it is....
2 1/2 cups of flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 1 cup (2 sticks) cold butter (cut into small pieces) 1/4 - 1/2 cup water poured over ice cubes (I used a little more than 1/2 cup)
I love that I can make these with ingredients that I normally have on hand!!
For the directions it might be easier to direct you here.
All I really did was combine the salt and sugar. Cut in the butter a little then add the flour. Continue smashing it up. Then I used a fork to finish.
When the butter is very small add the water spoon by spoon Until dough comes together. I ended up using my hands.
Knead for 10 minutes (I didn't knead that long) Divide into 2 balls, one for each crust.
Roll out or just put it into the sprayed pie plate and spread out. Next time I need to make mine a little thinner. If you roll it out, put it on wax paper and fold over. Then roll, this made it very easy!
Bake the crust at 400* until golden brown for pudding or cream pies. Or fill your crust with your pie filling and then bake.
I made a Black Raspberry!
I'm planning on making a couple pies a month for hubby! We'll see if that actually happens... gardening season is coming you know!!
So I'm curious how many of you make your own pie crust??
