So, here goes!

My kids all went to public school. Where we live, the schools are still very moral and have a 'religious' undertone. Besides, I didn't think I was organized enough to homeschool them all.

I have 6 kids. They were quite a testimony in their school.

My youngest just turned 18, the oldest is 29. Middle kids are 28, 27, 24, and 20

Our public schools start mid Aug and get out for a 2 week potato harvest. Only the highschool kids can work now, but when I was a kid, we picked potatoes...it was the only way our families could afford school clothes. My college age girls start the end of Aug. (27thish)?

This will be my first year of not loading up on notebooks etc for the girls. But, I've had to dish out finding stuff for their apt. Glad they can be together rather than living on campus and in a dorm!

Survive???? This will be the first time in 30 years that hubby and I are alone...I am sooooo psyched!!!!! it may be a tad boring without the tales the girls always have around the dinner table, but I am so looking forward to not having to clean up behind anyone but hubby and I!

We run school all year; learning is an everyday lifelong thing.

We buy things as we need them, so we don't do a big shopping trip.

We survive by taking it day by day.

My daughter goes to public school. We live in a little country area and I just love the school. It is actually the same one that I attended when I was little.

My oldest son will be going to kindergarten this year. And he is going to public school, but after this year we may think about private. I actually was homeschooled for part of my childhood, and don't think I would do it with my children.

I have 4 kids, ages 6, 4, 2 and 6 weeks.

The Allen Family said...

Oops, ha ha. Didn't read close enough through all the questions first. I will add that my 4 kids are all boys! :)

The Allen Family said...

Our school starts August 24. My son goes that day, and then has the rest of the week off as the kindergarten teachers do individual assessments and then starts going over day on August 31.

The Allen Family said...

Our school shopping is done. We just finished it at Old Navy yesterday. I LOVE Old Navy for my boys. Well, I actually may need to get one more pair of shoes. But we'll see...

The Allen Family said...

I don't have a plan for survival yet, because I'm not sure what I'm in for. :) I think we'll just take things one day at a time.

1. My daughter will probably be home schooled when she's old enough.

Renee said...

2. One kiddo! And, if you care to know, we have 8 cats!

Renee said...

3. My daughter just turned three.

Renee said...

4. School starts next Friday I believe in this area. Not really sure.

Renee said...

5. When I was in school, we shopped for clothes(TORTURE) and shoes (CRUEL AND UNUSUAL!!!-I wear a size 11 shoe!) and art supplies (HEAVEN!) My daughter's not in school but I have been buying shoes, clothes, and art supplies lately since everything is on sale this time of year!

Renee said...

6. My plan to survive is similar to yours--when you have a three year old you take one day at a time, invest in good art supplies, books, and puzzles, and accept the fact that sometimes you just have to plop them in front of the T.V. for thirty minutes while you regain your sanity :)

I have 2 boys. One goes to private catholic school and the other is in preschool/daycare. The oldest will be 7 in Sept. and the youngest will be 4 this month. School starts on 8/26 for my oldest. My youngest is in daycare/preschool year round. My school shopping is almost done. I still need uniform pants. My plan of survival is one day at a time with a little prayer and a lot of faith. I am not on Twitter but I bet the comments are great.

I can't remember all the questions but quick run down. We homeschool, have 5 children, ages range from 8-1.

Cheryl and Brian said...

1. Do your kids go to Public, Private, or Home School?

My son is starting Public PreK this fall.

Cheryl and Brian said...

2. How many kiddos do you have?
I have one little boy. He's a pip!:)

Cheryl and Brian said...

3. What are their ages?

Connor is 4.

Cheryl and Brian said...

4. When does your school start?

Our schools start September 8th. My husband and I are teachers so we go back the same day as Connor starts.

Cheryl and Brian said...

5. Is your school shopping done and What do you shop for?

No! Dh and I always shop for school supplies for our classrooms - we teach in a low SES district and our students don't have much. Its easier for us to provide what we want them to have rather than have someone go without. So we hit up all of the major school sales for paper, pencils, crayons, glue, all of it! For our ds, we haven't gotten a list of his needed supplies yet but will get that next week. Plus, we also all shop for some new school clothes! Not done yet!

Cheryl and Brian said...

6. Let us know what your plan to survival is!

My plan to survival? I start prepping for a major freezer cooking session to have dinners set aside for the month of september. I will cook between 10-20 meals next week and freeze them in reheatable containers. Then I can just add a quick side and call it good. We are huge fans of our IPhones for the sheer fact that they sync to our family calendars. We always know whats going on and when. And finally, my biggest help - all bags get packed the night before along with lunches!

My children go to a public school in MN. I teach 2nd grade at a public school too. We're expecting our 4th child in Nov. Their ages are 7, 5 1/2, 1 and then the newest addition to come! Our school starts after Labor Day every year. We don't really school shop besides for school supplies. As our children need things shoes, clothes etc we get them. We don't make it a point to go out and spend hundreds on clothes when its not necessary and not in our budget! hehe My survival is is just staying positive, laughing every day is something we love to do here! As far as Twitter..I haven't quite understood Twitter. I signed up for it a bit ago but it didn't work and I don't have a cell for to do it that way! I got what the kids needed plus extra to have at home for homework time and to replenish their supplies through the year plus some to give to some kids in our youth group who need supplies and some for stocking stuffers for my boys who love to do arts and crafts projects.
