Weekly Groceries

I know I'm not supposed to be
grocery shopping in December
BUT....
I had 2 catalina's that would have expired
(and we can't have that now can we!!)

I also saw that Kroger had boneless skinless chicken breast on sale for $1.77/ lb.
My favorite local butcher is closed for the winter (and I missed the stock up sale). I visited another butcher near me and chicken breast was $4.79 /lb. ahemmm, choke, puke. I don't think so, I mean I know it's good chicken BUT $4.79/lb COME ON, GET REAL!!!!!

Okay Okay I'll quiet down (grin!)
So needless to say I'm not paying that, so we're eating Tyson Chicken for the winter! $1.77 per pound I can do!!!!
I got 7 packages (about 2 meals per pkg.) and even used some .55/1 MQ so I got about 14 meals for only $20. !!! Having chicken about one time per week, should get us 3-4 months down the road!

I also snagged a free pizza, Ritz for .99 cents, hot chocolate for .50 cents, and manager's special Eckrich hot dogs for .49 cents!

A good trip including 4 gallon milk for only $32.xx

Next week maybe I'll be able to stay out of the store!!
((You just wait Meijer will finally have a
spectacular sale, and I'll be forced to go!!!!))

I agree with you about $4.79/lb that is a bit ridiculous! However, $1.77/lb is a good deal on the chicken! How many pounds of chicken are in each pkg? Cuz if they are the 2# pkgs they wouldn't get 2 meals/pkg at my house. :)

Oh and just so you know...Meijer next week is having a 10for$10 get 11th free sale! :)

Oh I figured Meijer was about due for that. Guess I'll be shopping again. I'll see how little $$ I can spend!! Lets hope for lots of matchups.

Yes they are just under 2# each. I take each piece and fillet it in half and it makes two nice size pieces. So each package will end up with 8-10 pieces of chicken. My oldest is only 11 so my kids arn't real big yet. Soon I'm sure 1# won't cut it!!

Thanks for the heads up on Meijer!

LOL....Yes, I'm lucky to get by on less than a pound still here too. Fortunately hubby and I have really gotten used to eating the real portion size of meat in weight loss. He could still eat a ton if you let him but I quite honestly can't get past about 3 oz. of anything. Don't know how that happened but I'll take it hehehe. Nice trip!
