QOTW - Hypothetical question...

The question of the week is...
Is this scenario Mean or Smart???

This is a totally hypothetical situation... ((grin))
**
Imagine a family going on vacation together. They all love
homemade icecream and are planning to make it several times.

The recipe that they make is around $15.00 to make and it
only makes a gallon of icecream. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!!
Okay so imagine there are around 8 adults and let's say 11 kids 10 and under.
***
So the kids devour a good amount of this icecream but
are they really even tasting it???
Okay Okay
So here's the question ...
Say these hypothetical people buy the kids

some cheap grocery store icecream which they love and the adults who actually taste the icecream eat all of the $15. Delicious Yummy homemade icecream.

Question.... is this Mean or Smart???

Remember this is completely hypothetical
I can't imagine anyone actually doing this ((GRIN))

Let's hear it!!!

Back to the Grocery Grind!!!

After a couple weeks off from grocery shopping
it was fun to go get the deals this week.

And they sure were abundant at Meijer!!!
This picture cost me a whopping
$35.74

At Meijer I only spent $20.55 for 45 items
receipt says I saved $92.72 WHOA!!
and a quick stop at Aldi for $15.19 (11 items)
***
All Totaled I spent $35.74 for 56 items or about
.64 cents per item!
This leaves plenty of money this week to stock
up on meat from our local butcher.
I got my milk at CVS earlier in the week for very cheap!
**
I had help from a couple catalinas at Meijer. There were so many coupon matchups this week at Meijer... it's been awhile since I've that big of a pile to use in one trip. It was great!!!
***
*****
As you may or may not know I use the stock up method when buying groceries. This means that the items in this picture (minus the produce) are not what I make my meals with this week. In fact some of the items I may not use for several weeks or even a month. I do this so that I am only buying what's on sale each week. I make my menus with what I already have in my freezer and pantries! I believe this saves us tons of money and I think we eat no different (maybe better) than we used to before my couponing planning days!
Anyone else use the stock up method???

No inserts Sunday???

Since Monday is Labor Day
I don't think there will be any coupon inserts in
Sunday's paper.

The schedule here says that there should be a P&G but since it came last week I'm thinking there won't be any inserts. I'll let you know if I here different.

Actually a good thing for me,
I still haven't clipped the inserts from 2 weeks ago...

Enjoy a week off!

I Love Vacation!!

I love VACATION!!!
As you know we were gone on vacation last week.
I posted a few clues here as to where we were going and...
Kris actually guessed it right!!! Great job!

We went to the
Turkey Run State Park area in Parke County!

(It's about an hour west of Indianapolis)

We had a great time with wonderful weather.
Only had rain one evening. Cool temps to start the week and hot temps to end. Perfect for hiking and then perfect for swimming!

If you live in the Midwest (or anywhere for that matter) I encourage you to try it out! It's like entering another world. Not typical Indiana hiking paths! You have to see it to believe it!

This is the bridge you have to cross to get to the hiking area!

It's crazy how cool the trails are.
The kids just go wild whenever we come here! Up this side and then up the other.
Always running ahead to see what's around the next corner.

Does this look like Indiana to you??
Trail #9 is my favorite. It's the first one we took this trip and totally ignored the "extremely rugged warning" Actually it was very dangerous at times esp. with kids and babies. It took us a couple of hours to hike but was soooo cool! I broke my toe a few weeks ago and hiked in flip flops (not so smart but worked!). My SIL slipped once with a baby strapped to her but She's really good at catching herself because the baby didn't even wake up!
Needless to say we were cheering to finally see the bridge again,
but would go do it again any day!

If you make it to The area
DO NOT GO HOME
without visiting Shades State Park
about 30 min. from Turkey Run.

We hiked trails 1, 4, and 5
Some say it's better than Turkey Run
and we also love that it's NEVER busy like Turkey Run is!

We did see plenty of Covered Bridges
and took lots of pictures!

They Played at the playground ALL. THE. TIME.
Our campsite was right beside the playground
which is perfect when camping with 13 kids under 11

On the down side we didn't eat a lot of evening snacks after 7 pm. For some reason the raccoons thought they owned the place. They would come within 2 steps of us. And I'm not talking about 1 raccoon I'm talking RACCOONS.... We would see 6-8 raccoons at any one time. Beside us, Behind us, Right in front of us. They didn't care what we did...
Anyway We still managed to eat plenty all the other hours of the day!!

And we swam several of the hot days.
The kids loved it.

So there you have it,
I LOVE VACATION!!!!

PS. I have plenty more pictures and stories
to share with you over the next few weeks!
Stay tuned!
