We have a dog who lives in the backyard. His name is Lord Darth Vadar (Vadar for short). We also have a cat named Tiger. Do the squirrels that live in my yard count? There are 3-we call them Pearly, Squirrly and Shirley. :-)
2 puppies..who keep digging where they shouldn't...and two playful kittens..all outsides animals....which in our opinion is where they belong....I already have four "animals" in my house to clean up after (5 if you count hubby!!!!)
Although its not everyones thing...This is my kind of question Megan! We have a dog, 2 cats, and a rabbit INSIDE the house. The dog also has his own fenced in yard.(And YES you can have a clean house and have animals as well, trust me) OUTside we have a "FLock" of ducks, and 14 chickens...All very spoiled and very very happy! We love every minute of the craziness!
We used to have a small house dog named Gracie but when the kids came along so did pet allergies, so she went to live with Grandma and Grandpa. They take very good care of her and we can visit her whenever we want. It was a win-win situation!
We now have a dog again, and a fish. We once had a dog, a cat, three fish and a crab, but we are now down to just one dog and a fish. Small animals just don't do well in our house. We would love to get another kitty, but Rob is allergic to them, and we had Fluff for 4 years, and he was perpetually plugged up! If we get into this new house that we want that has five acres, we will get some outdoor kitties, and likely some other outdoor animals!
We have a little yorkie-shit-su. She is our little baby. She weighs shy of 4 lbs. and she is full grown. We used to have 2 cats but last year we lost both of them. They were our boys. Hubby says no more now. I love animals and I would probably have more pets if I lived in a bigger house or had a bigger yard. Oh yea, and if hubby would let me!

We've got one cat. I figured it's be good to teach Am what "gentle" means.

I have none, as well! I don't miss having an animal around at all.

I think that's great to have lots of animals Jessica (The Miller's)!
We still really want chickens and have talked about getting goats. Our hold up is what to do with them when we're gone...
We usually take 2 one week vacations plus camping weekends and we're gone for a full 15 days every October for work trip.
what do most people do with animals when you're gone???
Currently have no animals. Maybe when the girls are a bit older?
As to your second question - is their a responsible teenager near by that you could pay to take care of your "farm" while you are away?
We have a dog, and a cat recently adopted us.
