Funny Story --
As soon as my cashier saw that I had $2. Dry Idea coupons she stopped. "I can't do that" she said. "What, you can't take my coupons" I asked. She said "Well are you using the .99 cent Walgreens coupon"? "Yes" I replied. She said "well then I can't take your coupons, I can't take a $2. coupon off of a .99 cent item." Me "Yea you can this coupon is worth $2. and it doesn't matter what sale the store is running". Her "No I won't do it, I turned someone else down earlier." Me "Oh well then just cancel my whole order because this coupon is worth $2., your store is GOING to get paid $2. from this company." Her " Well we can't do it... I'll call the manager and he can explain it to you". "Okay that would be great" I said. Manager comes, we explain and he says "Yea we can do that, why can't we. I would want to be able to use it if it were my coupon. Did the register not take it?" I said "She didn't try" . So he did the transaction with out any problems. All the while she's standing behind him saying "I just don't understand".

The thing she really doesn't understand is that I was calmly and "happily" going to walk out of there purchasing NOTHING, which means Walgreens lost money.

Sometimes cashiers think they're looking out for their store by not accepting coupons when actually they're costing them money. It's like they're refusing cold hard cash. Which is what a coupon is to a store!!

Hmm was I on my soap box??? I guess I'm writing a book...
I'm glad I'm blessed with good manager's, he could have just as easily been as clueless as she and deny using my coupons!

If you're new I tell you this story so that you can be aware that you will be questioned and sometimes denied when you shouldn't be. Explain as I did and hopefully it will work out. If not, just smile and know that another deal is on the Horizon!! Or look for another store with a different manager!!!

Anyone else have any "Fun" coupon experiences lately??

I completely understand! I have this problem with my local Target. They won't even try to run some of my coupons at times. I am very disappointed with them.
Great info to know and I am glad the manager put it through for you....good deals!
Yes, that person that was rejected with the coupon was your sis-in-law!!!! I will be back tomorrow though. And I am gonna get paid $1 to take the deoderant! Doon't tell me you don't want $2 for a $.99 item! =) How funny is that!
Just had a fun experience at Target this week. Took advantage of their Huggie deal and got a $5 Gift Card back. I then had a second transaction of deodorant and body wash and went to pay for it with my gift card and was told that I could not use my gift card on the same day I received it! Well, after commenting about it on Money Saving Mom others who had the same problem recommend that when you have an issue to call headquarters 1800 number while you are still in the store to clarify their policy with the store manager. Apparently there is no such policy that a gift certificate can not be used on the same day it was received. That is my FYI for the week.
Why is it that some cashiers don't want us to be able to get good deals??? I guess they think they're looking out for their store.
No Steph, there is no such Target policy. A Gift card is cash. If she accepted your $5. bill then she should accept your $5. bill in the form of a gift card.... can't use it until the next day, what's the difference??? CRAZY made up rules
LOL I had a problem w/ a Walgreens cashier the other day. I was taking advantage of the RR deal on the Skippy peanut butter, as it is one of the items in the "buy 8, get $8 in RR". Since it's $2 a jar, that works out to $1 each after RR. I'm in, right?. So I go up and put my jars on the counter and the lady looks right at me smugly and says "you can't buy that many". What? "There's a limit" So I just look at her, and calmly open the ad in my hand and show her that it says if you buy 8,you get $8 in RR. She says, "oh. they normally don't allow that." I smiled really big and told her she was the employee, and if she'd actually read the store ad that she'd know what they were allowing.
I couldn't help myself. I never do that. Oh well.
I've had this happen so many times.. cashiers just don't always understand all the information, and sometimes its the managers fault. Being well informed and educated on the subject can certainly get you a long way!
Great story! This happens to me all the time at Walgreens. I guess that is why I love my awesome CVS cashiers.
