Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe

Homemade Pizza Sauce!
Wow! Another week without a new bread recipe!
(don't worry I'm still making them and I'll share soon!)

I have always either bought Store brand or
Chef Boyardee Pizza sauce.
Normally this runs around $1.00 - $1.29 per 15 oz can.

Here is a recipe for pizza sauce that will only
cost you around .65 cents!!
**You even know and can
pronounce the entire ingredients list!!!

I 've been tweaking this for about 2-3 weeks. It's
still not perfect for us, but it's close enough that
I won't be buying pizza sauce anymore!!

To see the original recipe go here.

Here's my version...
15 oz of Tomato Sauce
1 tsp. oregano
1/2- 1 tsp. Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder

The first time I made it was my best run. Of course that time
I just threw it all together. I haven't been able
to make it quite the same since.

The 2nd time I made it, it had a very strong garlic taste.
So I reduced garlic. The 3rd and 4th time I made it our pizza
tasted like there was sausage on it, only I didn't use any sausage.
I'm pretty sure that's the Italian Seasoning.
So I am going to reduce the Italian to 1/2 tsp.
(or I might take it out completely)

The nice thing is... Anything goes!! Try it and
start tweaking to fit your families taste buds!!

Do you have a simple perfect pizza sauce you always use??
I'd love the recipe to try!!
I'll also continue tweaking this one
until it's just perfect!!!

Sarah, at 8 Muddy Boots is having a linky for
baking mixes today!

Here are a few favorites of mine...
Chocolate chip muffins
Brownies
Pizza Crust
Chocolate Chip Cookies

To make these a quick baking mix, just mix the dry
ingredients and store in container or baggie. Then
when you're ready to make it, just add the wet ingredients
and you're done. This is the same idea as if you would buy
a boxed brownie or muffin mix at the store!

I'll be working on more of these as the weeks press on!!

my recipe is similar, but I use a big huge can of crushed tomatoes and let the sauce cook down on the stove. Gives the sauce a little more texture that I like, and makes a few batches at once---I freeze it into 3 containers.

Thanks for linking! I have been wanting to try my own pizza sauce and spaghetti sauce also. Can't wait until I have my own tomatoes to make it with!

Yes I'm planning on making a lot of tomato sauce this fall with homegrown tomatoes! I'd love to not buy tomato sauce again!!!

Thankyou for this recipe. I will have to try this as like you, I just always bought the meijer brand. Maybe I will have a good crop of tomatoes again this year and can alot of sauce as well.

This is gonna sound crazy and too simple to be good, but I use tomato paste, diluted with a few tablespoons of water until it's the right consistency for you. Add as much oregano as you like and a splash or two of balsamic vinegar, and it's as good as pizzeria sauce!
